The Department of Rehabilitation of Cancer Patients accepts for rehabilitation in the early postoperative period patients who have undergone surgical, combined, complex treatment for diseases of the breast, female genital organs, surgical treatment of neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract (subtotal resection of the stomach, gastrectomy; pancreato-duodenal resection, liver resection, resection of the small intestine).
In our department, the rehabilitation of each patient is considered individually. At the early recovery stage, rehabilitation implies the definition and implementation of a complex of treatment and recovery measures aimed at obtaining the optimal therapeutic effect and the fastest recovery of the patient's life. The main rehabilitation measures are the prevention and treatment of general and local postoperative complications, early radiation reactions, side effects of chemotherapy.
For this purpose, the following are widely used:
- physical methods of rehabilitation (exercise therapy, massage, some types of low-frequency electrotherapy, phototherapy, magnetotherapy);
- psychotherapy with preliminary psychological testing and the use of various psychotherapeutic techniques (neuromuscular relaxation, suggestion, autotrning, etc.);
- diet therapy (meals are frequent, fractional);
- drug therapy to compensate for a functional defect caused by surgery, increase resistance and adaptation of the body, prevention of chronic diseases or treatment of existing exacerbations.
We invite patients who have developed postoperative complications in the long-term postoperative period for the late recovery stage of rehabilitation:
- after operations on the mammary gland in the form of secondary lymphedema, plexopathy, arthrosis of the shoulder joint, post-radiation pulmonitis;
- after operations on the pelvic organs with the development of post-castration syndrome, secondary lymphedema;
- after surgery on the stomach with dumping syndrome, syndrome of the "small" stomach; agastral asthenia, post-gastro-resection anemia, afferent loop syndrome
- after operations on the small intestine with malabsorption syndrome.
During this period, the entire arsenal of medical rehabilitation methods is used, including:
- physical (exercise therapy, massage, pneumocompression massage of extremities, phototherapy, electrotherapy, hydrokinesis therapy, balneotherapy, magnetoturbotron);
- diet therapy;
- psychotherapy using various techniques with a strict individualization of the approach and the choice of the method of influence;
- drug therapy.
